Duke of Edinburgh's Award

JCS DofE

The Duke of Edinburgh's (DofE) Award is a high quality, enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development activities for young people aged 14 – 25. It's all about going the extra mile – gaining new skills, pushing yourself physically, helping others and exploring new territories. At the same time, you’ll gather friendships, experiences and memories that will last a lifetime.

John Colet School provides an exciting opportunity for students to take part in the DofE Award programme which will aid character development in an environment of social interaction and teamwork. We currently offer opportunities for students to gain their Bronze, Silver Awards, and Gold Award.

What is the DofE?

  • A life-changing experience
  • A fun time with friends
  • An opportunity to discover new interests and talents
  • A tool to develop essential skills for life and work
  • A recognised mark of achievement; respected by employers

“I am Niamh and I have completed my Bronze Award and am currently working towards my Silver Award. I think the DofE is an amazing experience to be able to do and I hold some of the best memories while completing it. I really enjoy encouraging students to feel as enthusiastic towards the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme as I do. It's a privilege to help the Scheme at our school expand and grow and to be able to enable more young people to thrive and succeed with their own personal experience with the DofE. We help students in years 9 and 10 by helping them fill out their eDofE sections and answering any questions that they have. The best thing about being an Ambassador is that I can see other students flourish and grow with confidence while having good fun at the same time.”

DoE KA

I am Katie and I have also completed my Bronze Award and am working towards achieving my Silver Award this year. I have thoroughly enjoyed my entire experience and I am so grateful for all the memories I have because of it;.I am passionate about helping others striving to achieve their Award and get as much out of their time as I have. It is a privilege to be an Ambassador and be able to help the DofE Award Scheme at our school gain traction and grow to become better and better. It is a great opportunity to enable other students to succeed and gain valuable personal and practical assets in their own personal DofE experience. We help students complete their Bronze Award and those completing their Silver Award and are always available at school if there are any questions that need answering. We also help students to fill out their eDofE information.”
