Partnership with parents and carers is essential if students are to thrive. The school keeps in regular contact with home through monthly newsletters, emails to parents for particular events, reports home about student progress and a parent consultation evening each year for each year group.
A parent survey is completed each year and the results of almost 500 surveys in 2017-18 showed that the main areas of strength were:
- My child feels safe at JCS
- My child is well looked after at JCS
- My child is happy at JCS
Parents agree that pupils are well cared for and happy. (Ofsted Report, May 2016)
At John Colet School we place great value upon school attendance as it has a direct link with the achievement of students. Our staff work hard to support and promote attendance and will continue to support and assist all students who have concerns over their attendance to ensure they improve.
John Colet School operates within Buckinghamshire County Council's Fixed Penalty Notice system. Such Penalty Notices may be considered when a student is absent from school for the purpose of a holiday in term time and the absence has not been authorised by the school.
Parents may find it useful to read 'Code of conduct for issuing penalty notices for unauthorised absence from school' which can be found at:
In the unlikely event of there being a request for a student to be absent from school for other than medical reasons the form below should be completed by the parent/carer.
