House System

The House System was launched September 2018. Students were involved in the naming of the houses, picking gemstones as the theme. The JCS houses are:

• Jade
• Topaz
• Zircon
• Amethyst
• Citrine
• Garnet

Each house has a member of staff as their Head of House with House Captains appointed from Years 11-13.

The aim of the House System is to give students a sense of belonging to their school community so they take pride in the school environment. The system is designed to give some healthy competition between students (and staff!) and allow them to develop a wider skill set.

Pupils like the house competitions. These allow them to get to know other pupils in different age groups. This contributes to the school’s community feel. (Ofsted, February 2020)
